ROLE “MODELS”

So God created man in his own image,

     in the image of God he created him;

     male and female he created them.

There is nothing ambiguous about the above words from Genesis. When I was asked to write about the importance of the separate roles of men and women in scripture, I was first drawn to a softer, more “compassionate” approach. In that way, I could start the message by saying something like, “It is not God’s intention to infringe on anyone’s personal convictions about their identity and lifestyle, but…”. The problem with that is that it IS God’s direct intention to bring to light anything that makes us fall short of righteousness.

 So let me get this out of the way right up front… Homosexuality, gender fluidity, cross dressing, same-sex marriage, sexual re-assignment surgery, child rape, etc…. They all fall under the same condemnation when it comes to almighty God. It is a particularly grievous abomination. Sexual depravity happens to be the most often singled out offense when sin is being discussed in scripture. I believe this is so because it is a moral failure that we are all capable (or guilty) of in one way or another. That said, the vote of God’s people will play a vital role in the upcoming election. Government has overstepped its boundaries in the legislation of good and bad morals in the past. Given the opportunity, they will do it again.

 So the purpose of God’s very distinctive design of the male in contrast to the female (that is, the physical characteristics as well as the emotional/psychological makeup) not only fulfilled the purpose of procreation, but also set up clear boundaries for what should and should not be. The human male is meant to be with the human female. No other arrangement is acceptable in God’s eyes if you believe Holy Scripture to be the word of God. Are we clear? Let’s move on.

 Men - honor your role in the grand scheme by honoring your wife and children. Lift them up by making much of who they are and in whatever God-honoring station in life they have taken. In this way you don’t just assume headship, you seize it like the man of God that you claim to be.

 Women - honor your role by emulating the great women in the Bible. God has given you what it takes to be a Ruth, or an Esther... or even a Mary!

 DAILY BATTLE ORDER:

Today’s is a simple one… Pray for the courage to be the man or woman that God is calling you to be, and that includes voting for those candidates that most closely uphold God’s will.
