“Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests, and said, “What are you willing to give me to deliver Him (Jesus) up to you?” And they weighed out to him 30 pieces of silver. And from then on he began looking for a good opportunity to betray Him.” Matthew 26: 14-16
Jesus knew this was coming, later in v21, as they were eating the Passover meal, Jesus said, “Truly I say to you that one of you will betray me.”
Have you ever betrayed Jesus? When I look at the word betray and what it means, it means to lead one astray, or desert someone in their time of need, or to deliver to an enemy by treachery. (Merriam Webster) So, I ask again, “Have you ever betrayed Jesus?” I don’t think of it in the same context as Judas, however, when I do something I know is not of God or worse yet, when the Holy Spirit tells me to do something and I don’t do it, then yes, I have betrayed Jesus.
What a comfort it is to know we have an advocate before our Father. We are forgiven! That’s what the Resurrection is all about! Forgiveness, and love, and our desire to repent of our sins and walk in obedience to God.
