Our Father

via TJC

Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Matthew 6:8 ESV

Cesar requires a 10% late fee and the total taxes before I report you, says Matthew. His fellow Jew replies, You know that I do not have that kind of money; I can barely make ends meet under the current tax rate. Can you please give me more time to settle this matter? Matthew replies, You have been late three times in the past six months, pay what you owe!

After duty, Matthew feels unsettled by his occupation because he knows he is a fraud, selling out his people for status and sliding under the persecution of the Romans. To make matters worse, his Dad renounces his sonship because of his choices. He prays hard like usual to seek a way out. The vicious cycle continues until a man he has never met calls him to follow him. The man’s presence pulls him immediately away from a life of hypocrisy. This encounter would transform him as one of the 12 disciples, a NY best selling Gospel author, and a martyr for the right choices.

Daily Battle Order:

“Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

Matthew 6:9-10, 12-13 ESV
