Is Our Present Trouble Also For Great Blessing?

via TJC 1 Peter 1:6-7

”So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. “ ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Apostle Peter goes on to write that "these trials will show that your faith is genuine." Do you want the opportunity to be tested and your faith proven? I do. Peter continues on: "It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world".

I have had many trials in my life and am currently in the midst of two legal battles as I write this DBO. But I have a choice in perspective on these trials. I can see them as a burden and fall into the trap of self-pity and cry out: why me, oh Lord? Or, I can turn to God and thank him first for what is most important, That He is a Good God who sent his Son to die for me and now I have an inheritance in eternity. And realizing that I have an opportunity to live out my life in any situation in the knowledge that the victory is already won by Jesus. I can use that perspective to walk through the valleys with grace, gratitude, humility, strength and fortitude no matter how good or bad times may be. I commit to act with the same hope trusting in the future that is already made secure in Christ.

Daily Battle Order:

Ask your family at dinner, or a coworker “what challenges are you facing?”  How would changing  perspective in light of Jesus’ promise change your thoughts, behavior and actions. Meditate on this and together and have a real conversation.
