”I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as we were commanded by the Father.“
—2 John 4
I met a young man when he was a senior in college. He wanted a mentor as he headed into his last year of college and into the next phase of life. Full confession: I didn't really want to do it, but God wouldn't let me off the hook. So we started meeting.
We used a tool a lot of guys who read these Battle Orders are familiar with. This young man took the assignments it gave us seriously. He developed skills to walk with God in new ways and really grew in his faith.
What was great though was that he didn’t keep it to himself. He began to share simple journals of times he spent with Scripture with his fraternity brothers. Those young men began to ask him how he learned to get into the Word like this. He shared the same training he and I had gone through, and some of those young men shared it with others. Today, there are four (4) generations of men who I can count as children in the faith.
That’s something to rejoice about!
Daily Battle Order:
When you consider this verse from 2 John, I hope you consider your biological family first. That’s our primary mission field as a Kingdom Man.
However, today consider the other men in your life who might need to learn a simple skill of time with God.
Maybe you are that man. If you need training to become the kind of disciplemaker this young man has become, the Joshua Commission exists to help you. Contact us or come to one of our Battlefield Summits this year.
