“Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire-he is God.” 1 Kings 18:24
“Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jezebel heard about it, she put on eye makeup, arranged her hair and looked out of a window.” 2 Kings 9:30
Who do we now call on? Who calls on us? We need someone to call us out on our fluff, and not just sometimes, but always. Those challenges, and much like in 2 Kings; today we also have a bunch of weak leaders and citizens in our communities and we are wondering why our country is failing and our economy plummeting. But rest assured the One thing that is not transitory is our God, and make no mistake he does not play and always shows up. He loves his children but he disciplines those he loves.
Out of 450 prophets not one of them can call on their false god to bring down fire for their altar. Elijah goes a step further to make a point FOR God, and because of God, puts water on and around the offering before God IGNITES it with heavenly fire. This wasn’t a magic show, or a cool breeze session to puff out his chest, yet pretty awesome nonetheless.
Yet Jezebel show no fear of Elijah, but utter contempt, and then thinks she can completely defy and even attempts to attract and decisive her enemies with her personal magnificence; only to become dog dung!
Battle Order:
Let’s ask God for boldness and stop the fake acts - let’s pray and call on our God to conquer all those areas where we perceive false gods and not love. Lets address those areas not aligned with God’s word and drive personal discussions where you are offended - policies that contradict God’s commands, weak leadership, all the issues elevated with sole purpose of dividing people. Don’t hide in your private echo chamber, have the tough dialogs, learn the challenge and stand your ground. Or find the true common ground - let’s all call in the diversity, equity, & inclusion of our Savior- the One & Only!
